Welcome Letter

Greeting Scholars & Families

My name is Ms. Hawthorne. I am so thrilled to have you in my class this year. I hope you are ready to dive deep into our content this year and learn a lot of new and exciting things this school year. I believe that with a growth mindset and grit we all can meet or excel at anything we set a goal to accomplish.

I am beyond excited to work with you this school year. Middle school is my favorite grades to teach. At this exciting stage, scholars are maturing and building on that prior knowledge to prepare for high school and beyond. I have high expectations for my scholars and parents. Together with a strong and consistent home-school connection, we can ensure our scholars' needs are met.

Please feel free to email me with any questions, concerns, or to schedule an appointment. I look forward to our partnership this school year!

Good afternoon parents/ guardians:

I have created this flyer with the important dates and times regarding 8th grade activities. Wednesday, June 8th will be the ribbon distribution. This is not a ribbon ceremony so no parents will be in attendance. Scholars should wear their 8th grade T-shirts and are allowed to wear jeans for this day. Monday, June 13th will be the luncheon. Scholars should come dressed to impress and need to arrive at school on time. The bus will leave at 9 am and we will board the boat at 10 am at Navy Pier. This event is for students only. Scholars will return to the school by 2:30. Our last day Tuesday, June 14th is Graduation. The graduation will take place at Hendricks from 10 am- 11 am. Scholars will be given 2 tickets per household. Cap and gown will be handed out on June 10th. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out.

Best wishes,

Ms. Hawthorne
